The Plenum of the Paeria de Cervera, in the session of 26 of March of 2026, unanimously approved the awarding of the Medal of the City to Joan Castellà Pifarré, renowned cultural activist and referent of the sardanist world, with a trajectory of more than 50 years dedicated to the promotion of sardana and the dissemination of Catalan culture.
His involvement has contributed decisively to projecting Cervera everywhere, with outstanding initiatives such as participation in the Barcelona Olympic Games ceremony 1992 or the organization of highly relevant Sardanist events.
