The Festa de Sant Magí continues to preserve the collective memory of a tradition closely linked to the neighborhood and its people. The church of Sant Joan hosted the presentation of the 36th edition of theNotebook of Sant Magí, a publication that documents the memories and experiences that have been building the history of the party.
Coordinated by Josep Mas, president of the Association of Friends of Sant Magí, and the historian Max Turull, henotebook brings together contributions from various authors about Sant Magí, the party and its surroundings. After 36 editions, the publication has established itself as a tool to preserve this legacy and pass it on to new generations.
The day also focused on memory through art and images, with the presentation of the paintingThe martyrdom of Sant Magí i of photographs in 360 degrees from Sebastià Caus, which offer new views on the imagination linked to the party.
Another of the protagonists was Emili Rabell, promoter of the Festa de Sant Magí and one of the first cultural activists in Cervera. The event included the opening of an exhibition by Ramon Razquin that recovers his figure and claims his contribution to the cultural revitalization of the city.
The chief Cervera paer, Jan Pomés, attended the day and highlighted the cultural and social value of the initiative, as well as Sant Magí's ability to generate community. A neighborhood tradition that, beyond the festive celebration, contributes to preserving local identity, strengthen the links between generations and keep Cervera's social fabric alive.
A tradition that unites Cervera
The Festa de Sant Magí is one of Cervera's most deeply rooted traditions. every august, the water of the Sanctuary of Sant Magí de la Brufaganya arrives in the city in cans transported by mules and rucs with argadells trimmed with wood. Adapted to the new times, the party maintains the essence of its ritual: water collection, the entrance to Cervera on 18 of August and the distribution on the streets the next day, St. Magi's day.
