The President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Joseph Rull, performed on Saturday 19 of October his first institutional visit to the city, where he was received at the Paeria de Cervera by the father in chief, Jan Pomés, and councilors of the Consistory.
Josep Rull signed the Book of Honor and thanked the Council for the reception. He emphasized that "Cervera has a strong symbolic charge for the nation, being the cradle of our government institution in 1359". Also that it is "a city of the present and the future, with a robust civil society, that has been able to create a new narrative of popular culture with festivals like l'Aquelarre".
The chief paer, Jan Pomés, welcomed him on behalf of the municipality and the region. He emphasized that "Josep Rull is the second president of the Parliament of Catalonia to visit the Paeria de Cervera".
He presented him with a facsimile of the minutes of the General Court of Catalonia for the year 1359 celebrated in Cervera, origin of the creation of the Generalitat.
For his part, Josep Rull handed the father in chief a flag, which "is considered the second oldest flag of a nation in the world, darrere Denmark”.
With the complimentary show, and as established by the protocol of the Paeria de Cervera, the Speaker of Parliament, second highest authority in the country, he sat in the chair of the chief father.
Later, President Josep Rull moved to the headquarters of the Regional Council of La Segarra, where he inaugurated the remodeling of the first floor of the building, and participated in the County Day events.
