11is Festival de Passover de Cervera
The Cervera Easter Festival reaches its 11th edition positioned as the reference contest in Catalonia for Catalan classical music. A DNA of its own that gives it a unique personality and distinguishes it as a priority and prominent for both the Catalan cultural world and the Generalitat itself, which recognizes it as a benchmark festival.
Of the 27 March 4 d'abril, the contest program 11 different musical productions that will end up materializing in 15 concerts spread over 6 days and in different spaces of the city such as the emblematic Auditorium, the Municipal Auditorium, the Church of St. Dominic or, even, the Picture Room of the Paeria.
This year, one of the main novelties is the relief at the head of the artistic direction, which is assumed by Jordi Armengol. The new director is a violinist and musicologist and will hold the position for the next two editions of the event, with option to an extension of two more.
His artistic proposal maintains the roots that make up the festival's identity (the empowerment of Catalan classical music), but at the same time it opens up to new multidisciplinary proposals, other musical genres and, above all, agglutinate parallel activities·them as documentary projections, annotated auditions or exhibitions and conferences during the days of the contest.
This year the Festival is in addition to the commemorations of two essential anniversaries: the 125th of the birth of Robert Gerhard and the 50th of the death of Joan Manén, two of the most paradigmatic cases of ignorance we have of our most universal musicians. There will also be a memorial for the Renaissance Quartet by Eduard Toldrà.
