La Paeria de Cervera has launched the Neighborhood Plan website, a new digital space that collects all the information of one of the most important urban transformation projects that the city will face in the coming years. The portal offers a global view of the project, allows you to consult the planned actions, learn about the participatory process that made it possible and follow the evolution of a plan that will shape the future of the historic center.
The launch of the website coincides with the final stretch of the process before the official presentation of the Neighborhood Plan to the Generalitat de Catalunya, planned for the next 17 July. The document is the result of three years of shared work with citizens and defines a comprehensive strategy to promote urban regeneration, social, economic and heritage of the historic center.
In recent months, the head priest and various members of the municipal government have started a round of meetings with the neighborhood councils, neighborhood associations, the business fabric, cultural entities, the educational centers, traders and other social agents to present the main axes of the project and share its objectives before its official presentation.
With a global investment of 12,5 millions of euros, the Plan envisages actions such as the transformation of Paseo Balmes, Magdalena de Montclar and its surroundings in a new green lung for the city, the improvement of public space, the creation of new accessible itineraries, the expansion of the parking offer, the installation of urban elevators, the recovery of municipal buildings and the enhancement of historical and archaeological heritage.
The rehabilitation of the residential park is one of the main axes of the project, with an endowment of 3 millions of euros in housing aid, facades, roofs and commercial premises. This subsidy program aims to mobilize private investment, expand the range of housing and contribute to the economic and commercial revitalization of the historic centre.
The Plan also incorporates measures to adapt to climate change, with the creation of new green spaces and shadow areas, more accessible mobility and the recovery of facilities such as Cal Moixó and Cal Breu to expand municipal services and strengthen the dissemination of heritage.
The mayor, Jan Pomés, has affirmed that "the District Plan is, above all, a project designed for people. This is my vision for the historic center: a more lively space, habitable, accessible and full of opportunities. For three years we have listened to the neighbors and the organizations so that they were the ones to explain to us what this one needs
neighborhood, and the good reception and involvement we have found throughout this process reaffirms to us that we are on the right track".
The new portal was created with the aim of guaranteeing maximum transparency and bringing the project closer to the public, becoming the main channel of information and monitoring of the Neighborhood Plan. Through this space, residents will be able to consult the documentation, find out the state of execution of the actions and follow the evolution of a project that aspires to transform the historic center of Cervera.
