The 13th "Buy and discover Catalonia" campaign begins on June 1, which organizes the Network of Old Neighborhoods with Projects a 34 municipalities of the country, among which Cervera, with the aim of supporting small businesses and promoting local tourism.

The Cervera International Music Course, which is now in its 42nd edition, will take place on 16 al 23 of July of 2023, along with the International Music Festival and the Luthiers Fair.
The great interest and good health of the Cervera International Music Course is confirmed, one of the oldest and most prestigious in Spain.
Enrollments are exceeding initial forecasts and, at this time, already overcome the 45 registered and 4 teachers have all their places sold out.

The course is aimed at postgraduate music students, de grau superior and de grau professional.
According to the organization, this academic activity "promotes rigorous and quality teaching and provides new experiences to young performers. It encourages creativity, spontaneity, critical spirit and teamwork". Besides, there is a teaching staff of recognized prestige that teaches instrument mastery individually and in groups, band and symphony orchestra. Sunday 28 May, the pianist Santi Riu closed the XLIV Series of Spring Concerts, organized by the Association of Friends of Music of Cervera, with the recital “Two worlds and a tribute”, at the Municipal Auditorium.
The recital proposed two distinct parts.
In the first, a heartfelt tribute was paid to the composer and teacher at the Cervera Conservatory Josep Lluís Guzman i Antich, who died in 2017. An important part of his work for piano could be heard, with a language that radiates poetry and is the heir of personalities like Frederic Mompou, Robert Gerhard or Amadeu Vives. “Snowy Branch” i “Interiors” they started the concert, before moving on to a world that has a clear relationship with the popular Cançoner de Catalunya. “Way of songs” it is made up of harmonizations written by the Sabadell composer of songs collected in Ponts i Tiurana. And the first part ended with a meaning “Tribute to Francesc Alió”, great musician and composer of”The laborers”.
Marion Bonet, widow of the honored composer, he wanted to be present at the concert and glossed over a few words from both the composer and the pianist, as well as the relationship between the two, which allowed him to record his work for piano in the year 2009 by the record label La Ma de Guido.
In the second part we experienced a new world with the work of Johann Sebastian Bach. His colossal work was represented by a transcription made by Franz Liszt from
Prelude and fugue in A minor -originally written for organ- and the charismatic “Chaconne” by Bach in Busoni's transcription for piano. After so much transcendence and grandeur, the pianist opted for two much more collected and spiritual works that managed to touch the heart of the large audience that filled the Auditorium.

Sunday 21 of May closed a new edition of the Cervera Bread and Cereal Fair, which this year has increased the number of visitors and sales. All the stands dedicated to the sale of bread sold out.
The fairgrounds, located in Plaça Universitat, has had 21 multisectoral exhibitors and 9 bread and derivatives factories, two more than the previous edition.
The increase in the number of ovens that sell at the Fair and the increase in sales "consolidate the Bread Fair and Cervera Cereal as a benchmark in the production and marketing of quality bread".
In this sense, the winner of the Llesca d'Or as the best baker in Catalonia spoke out 2022, Roger Cinnamon, and the representative of the Guild of Bakers of the Lands of Lleida, Josep Boneu, at the opening ceremony on Saturday 20. The president of PIMEComerç Lleida also praised Cervera’s commitment to promoting bread and cereal, the baker Manel Llaràs, in his stay at the contest on Sunday 21.
In Plaça Universitat it was installed·make a tent, which hosted most of the complementary gastronomic and fun activities at the Fair.
The performances of the artist Lo Pau de Ponts took place there, who dedicated a song exclusively to the Bread and Cereal Fair; by DJ Josep M. Sánchez and the Folk groups in Mitges, Swing Dealers, Les Assossegats and Julivert.
One of the most popular activities was the live cooking demonstration by Ada Parellada, who was also in charge of officially closing the Fair.
It is also worth noting the participation of the family audience in the gymnasium.
One of the novelties of this edition was the demonstration of traditional agricultural activities, like sowing and threshing with legs, which took place in the courtyard of the University and which aroused a lot of interest among the public to learn how field tasks were done in the old days.
In this line, the recently recovered Wheat Museum also received many visits, in the Union building, which exhibits tools from the countryside of the region.
From the Paeria de Cervera we want to thank all the people who visited the Fair and bought products at the different stands and participated in the scheduled activities.

The Department of Economic Promotion also makes a very positive assessment of the activities organized the previous week, since monday 15, Saint Isidre's day, Friday 19 May.
Sant Isidre's Day invites the farmers of Cervera and the region to the tractor parade and the subsequent fellowship lunch. This year a total of 48 tractors i 2 Decorated carts went through the center of the city in the parade. at lunch, chaired by the Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena, were gathered a total of 230 people. Ten gifts were drawn at the end, courtesy of the Regional Council of Segarra (a batch of local products), the Town Council of Cervera (four lots), Commercial Claramunt (three Iberian shoulders), and Transport and Cereals Joan Llorens Torres (two vouchers for lunch 2 people), who are thanked for their col·collaboration.
It also goes col·work Maquinaria Agrícola Gidar with the drinks bar and the visit to the machinery exhibition. Finally, the agricultural union Union of Farmers organized the technical day "Stop accidents in the rural environment". Regarding the acts developed between Tuesday 16 and on Friday 19 the good attendance at the guided visits to the Wheat Museum and the participation in the organic flour workshops in Garbiana stand out, making healthy Dálit Natura chocolates and bread from Fornera de Biosca, and at the dinner of products from the region. All these activities were organized in the Union, with the help·collaboration of the Segarra Producers Association.

On Saturday 20 In May, the production by the Cervera Conservatory of Music of the opera will be premiered “Dido & Aeneas”, de Henry Purcell, in the magnificent baroque space that is the University's Paranimf and with all tickets sold.
It is a baroque opera with a lost prologue and three acts, written on 1688 by the English composer and based on a libretto by Nahum Tate. The work is inspired by an episode from the IV book of Virgil's Aeneid and was performed for the first time in 1689 a la Boarding School for Girls a Chelsea, London.
The scene takes place in a baroque court where the courtiers trust that the queen's wedding will ensure the survival of the kingdom. Dido & Aeneas adapts to the French currents of his time, interspersing short arias, orchestral interludes, cors i ballets. The best known aria is “When I’m laid in earth” -when it lies in the earth- also called “Lament of Dido” and located at the end of the work.
The students of the center have worked on this work throughout the course, which had as protagonists the various singing students, as well as others who wanted to join as part of the choir and others who, next to the teachers, they performed as an orchestra.
With a cast led by Eva Maria Ruiz - as Dido- and Xesco Grau -Aeneas-, add Ariadna Mayer -Belinda-, Rut Rius -second lady of the queen-, Judit Cases -Fetillera-, Soraya Sánchez and Aran Sala -witches-, Savina Encuentra and Duna Pomés - as spirits- and Rosa Riera - sailor.
It is undoubtedly a large project for an educational center that is not a production company, in col·collaboration with the Cervera Museum and which saw the light precisely during the Night of the Museums.
This transversal production has made students and teachers grow, working together to add complicity. And the version that could be heard was worked on from the scene and interpretation subject, from the singing classes and the choir that has been created expressly for the occasion and that has been possible with the efforts of many people.
The production was led by Arnau Vinós -stage director-, Núria Mas - musical director -, Gemma Oriol -costume-, Montse Roig - styling- and Carles Gumí - conductor.
It can be seen again on Saturday 27 from May in Ponts.
