Popular culture returns to the streets in Cervera

The elements of popular and traditional culture of Cervera have returned to the streets this weekend, after more than a year, on the occasion of the Festa de la Colla del Ball de Diables de Cervera and the Corpus Christi festival.

The Devils of Cervera Carranquers celebrated the Festa de la Colla, on Saturday 5 June: with the Devil's Dance, the Children's Devil's Dance, the dances of the Tarasca and Lo Carranco Bilandó and the Spoken Dance.

Cervera's festive entourage took to the streets again for the Corpus Christi Festival, Sunday 6 June.
The drummer took part, the Bombollers and the Tibau Deer, the Gypsy Dance, the Colla Sardanista Jovencells, the Giants, the Tarasca, the Dance of Swords, the Eagle and Lo Carranco Bilandó.
The traditional parade of festive elements was not held, but they were able to shine in front of the public in a static performance in Cal Racó.

This June buying at the local Cervera store can be rewarded: a tourist experience to discover one of the others 31 populations of the country that have also joined the “Buy and discover Catalonia” initiative.

The campaign, which this year reaches its eleventh edition, rename, it is no longer called "Buy and Earn" to better describe its benefit and purpose: "Buy and discover Catalonia".

It is a project to support small businesses and territorial promotion organized by the Network of Old Quarters with projects, of which the Paeria de Cervera is part, and has the support of the Provincial Councils of Barcelona, Lleida and Tarragona and the trade associations of the 32 participating populations: Argentona, Balaguer, Besalú, Cabrera de Mar, Calaf, Cardona, Centelles, Cervera, Cervià de les Garrigues, Vendrell, Falset, Juneda, Forest Camp, Borges White, Arboç, l’Espluga de Francolí, Lleida, Manresa, Mediona, Having wheel, Sallent, Sant Feliu de Codines, Sant Martí de Tous, San Quentin Mediona, Santa Coloma, Solsona, Torello, Segre Towers, Tortosa, Tremp, Ulldecona Vilanova del Camino.

Thanks to the improvement in the indicators of the Covid-19 that allow the mobility and the reopening of shops, the campaign recovers its usual dates at the gates of summer.

It should be noted that last year all agents agreed to postpone the campaign to October due to restrictions due to the pandemic., and awards for getting to know the most of 30 organizing municipalities were postponed to the 2021.

The documentary promotes the mountain bike route between Verdú and Manresa, a tour of 115 km that includes the last three sections of the Ignatian Way. It was recorded last fall, and it is a pleasant taste of this route along rural roads and paths between Verdú, in Urgell, and Manresa, al Bages, passing through Cervera, Igualada and Montserrat.

The documentary can be seen on Wednesday 19 May, them 15.30 hours, on the TV channel Esport3. It also airs this week on the same channel on Thursdays 20 from May to 9.30 hours; on Saturday 22 May, them 14.30 hours; and Sunday 23 from May to 16 hours.

In addition to presenting the documentary, the Ignasiana BTT was also launched, which will open registration on June 1 for anyone who wants to sign up to do so on 26 September, when the first edition open to the public will be released. The way out will be, them 8 in the morning, to Verdú, and the arrival around 2/4 from 8 in the evening in Manresa. Cervera will be a place of passage where there will be a refreshment station.

The initiative opens its doors to towns where it can promote heritage tourism products, artistic and natural.

According to the Councilor for Tourism, Culture and Economic Promotion, Mercè Carulla, is “a new opportunity to promote Cervera and to rediscover the country in an initiative that unites sport, tourism and territory ”.

Last weekend, the people who won awards from the Neighborhood Network visited Cervera, in the “Buy and Earn” campaign of the year 2020.

The meeting began at the tourist office, where the Councilor for Economic Promotion and Tourism, Mercè Carulla, welcomed them and delivered a batch of local produce, gift from the Diputació de Lleida.

The prize was for two people and consisted of a visit to the thematic space of the CAT and visualization of the audiovisual that explains the birth of the Generalitat de Catalunya in the city of Cervera; the theatrical visit to the University building, and a lunch at one of the city’s restaurants.

Taking advantage of the fact that this weekend was International Museum Day, also enjoyed the view at the Cervera Museum and the exhibition “I’M 93”, dedicated to the brothers Marc and Alex Márquez.

Visitors came from different municipalities in Catalonia to enjoy the prize that won them in the "Buy and win" campaign of the Neighborhood Network, to which the Paeria de Cervera is attached.

The campaign is an initiative to encourage local trade in the towns and cities that are part of the Neighborhood Network. The lucky people gain tourist experiences in the Catalan municipalities participating in the campaign

Friday 21 in May the Paeria de Cervera makes two pianos available to anyone who wants to play them: a large-tailed Yamaha in the Plaza Mayor and a Yamaha C-3 in the Union Square, new emblematic space of the city that joins the initiative this year.

All morning, us 500 students of all ages from different schools in the city: Root Kindergarten, Jaume Balmes School, School Mn. Josep Arques, Les Savines School, will star in an educational activity around pianos.
