Cervera again adheres to the European Mobility Week

The Paeria Mobility Council, with the help·collaboration of entities and other institutions of the municipality, organize a schedule of activities, between days 17 i 22 September, on the occasion of European Mobility Week.

The program foresees walks organized by the Segarra Hiking Center and the CAP de Cervera; the Peña Ciclista urban bike ride; the "Meet the pump track" activity, de Sikarra Bike Park; the Cervera Patina roller skates, a traffic playground of the Catalan Traffic Service; the show "Next", from the Fadunito company, financed by the Regional Council of La Segarra; or the guided sports activities classes with the CEM Cervera instructors.

This year, as a novelty, incorporates the "Let's go to school in a sustainable way" initiative to encourage trips to educational centers by walking, by bike or scooter.
Monday 19 Friday 22 of September, all boys and girls who go to school in a sustainable way will be able to participate in the raffle of six scooters. They will need to present the ticket to the mobility agents who will be found at the entrance to the educational centers at 9 hours. The draw will take place on Thursday 22 of September at the end of the "Propers" show, from the Fadunito company, scheduled at 17.30 hours, in squares and streets of the city of Cervera.

According to the Councilor for Mobility, Jordi Pons, "with these initiatives we want to promote healthy habits and promote travel through the city with more sustainable means".


The European Mobility Week 2022 bears the motto “Combina i mou-te!”. It promotes more sustainable mobility habits, safe and healthy as commuting on foot, cycling, on public transport or by electric vehicle with the aim of visualizing the possible changes in the use of public space, improve air quality and reduce pollution.

Friday 23 on Monday 26 Cervera will celebrate the Festa Major in September, which will present activities for all audiences, will recover full normality and install again·home to the marquee and the fairs in the center of the city.

The Festa Major will begin on Friday 23, them 20 hours, with the recognition of two local entities and the proclamation.
The entities honored will be the Segarra Excursionist Center and the Coll de les Savines Scout and Guide Group on the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary. The Municipal Corporation wants to recognize its trajectory and its commitment to sports activity and education in leisure, respectively.
The Pregó will be in charge of the Center Obrer Instructiu d'Union Republicana, in tribute to the popular mobilization that made October 1 in Cervera possible, on the 5th anniversary of the organization of the referendum.

The concerts will take place in the marquee, that this year is installed·the one in Plaça Pius XII with the intention of bringing the festival back to the center of Cervera. The musical offer is varied and for all audiences, with DJ performances at the Festival of the Years 80 i 90, Friday; the Inversend Band groups, The Stomping Pony and Viper, Saturday; and the Costa Brava Orchestra, Monday. All the concerts are free.

The popular culture activities will take the streets again and will recover the usual spaces for the shows and dance shows.
The meeting of giants, which reaches its 40th edition, will make the route from Plaça del Sindicat to Plaça Major, where the dance show and the joint performance of all the gangs will take place.
Later, at the corner of Santa Maria, there will be the extraordinary Carretillada de Cervera Carranquers in charge of the Devil's Ball of Cervera Carranquers.

The small Festa Major, which is held on Monday 26, will set up the festive elements in Plaça Universitat and the parade from Plaça Sant Miquel to Plaça Major, where the performances of the participating groups will take place.

Besides, the Festa Major program includes children's entertainment activities, sports exhibitions, open doors at the Paeria building and the bell tower, the contest of sardanist gangs, the castellera day, theater, the closing fireworks display…

The chief paer, Joan Santacana, and the councilor for Culture, Mercè Carulla, have presented the program of the 46th Isagoge, cultural week prelude to the Festa Major, that the 15 al 23 of September organizes a total of 26 activities.

Isagoge celebrates two centenaries this year: the construction of the Union Flour Mill and the birth of the teacher, writer, bookseller and publisher Ramon Turull (Cervera, 1922-2003).

In the presentation the father in chief, Joan Santacana, has spoken of "the coincidence in the origins of Aquelarre and Isagoge, summer activities that started at the same time, more than 40 years, for neighborhood initiatives". He contextualized the Isagoge and emphasized that "the programming has maintained the structure, with activities for all audiences".

The Councilor for Culture, Mercè Carulla, has stated that it is hoped that "the commemoration of the centenary of a modernist jewel like the Farinera del Sindicat will go further, and with the works that are being carried out it can be reopened and accessible to the public". Mercè Carulla presented the program of the cultural week and emphasized that one day, on Saturday 17, is dedicated to the figure of Ramon Turull i Bargués, with activities organized jointly with the Espitllera Forum and Òmnium Cultural.

 

Centenary of the construction of the Farinera del Syndicat (1922-2022)

At the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, Cervera experienced a period of splendor. The Farinera building, of the Agricultural Union and its region, work by César Martinell, is a great example of this moment. The Syndicate complex was founded on 1919 on the initiative of a group of farmers from 121 towns throughout the region and was finished building in the year 1922. This year we reach its centenary and the Isagoge cultural week echoes it with a program that commemorates this event. Throughout this week you will be able to contextualize, through the different activities proposed, how was this emblematic building.

 

Centenary of the birth of Ramon Turull i Bargués

The lsagoge dedicates a day, Saturday 17 September, to commemorate the centenary of the master's birth, writer, bookseller and publisher Ramon Turull Bargués (Cervera, 1922-2003). A public commemorative event is planned with ten presentations on various aspects (poet, playwright, writer, civic activist, cultural manager, teacher, publisher and bookseller) from Turull; a storytelling; the discovery of a plaque in the house where he was born and lived (on Carrer Sória, 3); a bibliographic exhibition and a literary dinner.

“A little Museu” it is a project that has a vindictive character in terms of gender. The protagonists are three women who represent not only three historical moments, but three social conditions. The Cátedra Cervera Emili Pujol hosts the most important fair competition in southern Europe dedicated to this specialty with 9 workshops and dozens of professionals in the sector. The Luthiers Fair, which takes place every year as part of the Emili Pujol Chair, has gathered in the Corridors of the University until 9 houses of luthier craftsmen, as well as dozens of professionals in this sector.

Among many high value instruments, in this 18th edition, a J.B. Vuillaume violin of the year was exhibited there 1829. an instrument, valued at 300.000 euros, which has had a special singularity after it was stolen and, subsequently, recovered in the Raval of Barcelona.

The violin had belonged to violinist Ansaldo Poggio or Louis Kaufman, which participated in the recording of 400 movie soundtracks·movies like "Casablanca", "Psychosis" or "Gone with the Wind". currently, belongs to Corrado Bolsi, Course teacher, and that he will participate with this violin in the concert dedicated to the Fira de Lutiers that will take place as part of the Festival.

The International Music Festival fills all the towns

Since its launch last Saturday, 16 July, the concerts scheduled at the International Music Festival, they are being very well received.
