8 Memory is a woman's name. Memory is a woman's name, Memory is a woman's name, WE WILL BE THERE

History is written by the winners, Memory is a woman's name, Memory is a woman's name, Memory is a woman's name. No one escapes the fact that history has been especially unfair to women: centuries of invisibility, of contempt, of silence. The women, and especially those of the working class, have been continuously overlooked in a history that is impossible to explain without the role they have played in it and the contributions they have made up to today's society.

The day 8 of March should serve us for reflection col·teaching, and it must be, too, a moment of recognition to all the wise women who burned under the guise of witchcraft, to all the textile workers who revolutionized trade unionism in the 19th century, and to all the current domestic workers who are in an extremely precarious situation. All of them have played a very important role in our history, but they continue to be invisible and silenced.

It is only fair that we remember them, to those who have preceded us and to those who today take charge of all those essential tasks to sustain society. If the pandemic has left us with one thing, it is very graphic examples of how care work is indispensable, but also in this case, as in most functions performed by women, their work is systematically made invisible and their social value belittled. While epidemiologists occupy radio minutes, television and pages of the written press, cleaning workers in hospitals or nursing staff continue under deplorable working conditions that few media have dimensioned as they should. Some have prestige, the others are mere ants. But day-to-day life cannot be sustained without them.

In Cervera we want this one 8 of March serves to make historical memory of the contribution of women throughout history, that it becomes the speaker of those who do it today and a turning point that encourages those who will come.

Because we women have been there, we are there and we will be there!
